Services

Although Telco Electrical specializes in onsite electrical surveys and audits we also offer a wide range of other electrical engineering solutions for the Telecommunications Industry. We can provide any one of the services listed below or customise a package to suit your specific requirements.

Power Viability Audits (PVA).
A Power Viability Audit (PVA) is generally required when a Carrier wants to establish a new telecommunications mobile site onto a shared lot, the rooftop of a building or within an Exchange building. The PVA is required to identify if there is spare capacity available on the existing power supply for the additional new load. If there is not then the PVA will recommend what work needs to be done to facilitate this. Telco Electrical are able to provide PVA’s in all areas of Australia. Because we work in association with an network of licensed contractors who are local, we can provide a more timely and effective service. Additionally with all PVA reports, Telco Electrical can provide an estimate for the electrical installation work to be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor.
Site Electrical Surveys
Sometimes it is unclear how the electrical installation can be modified or upgraded to accommodate a new telecommunications mobile site. An example of this would be a very complex Main Switchboard and metering arrangement. Telco Electrical are able to provide Site Electrical Surveys in all areas of Australia. Because we work in association with a network of licensed contractors who are local, we can provide a more timely and effective service. Additionally with all Site Electrical Survey reports, Telco Electrical can provide an estimate for the electrical installation work to be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor.
Power Applications
Doing Power Applications to Power Authorities across Australia can be a daunting task. Each Power Authority has its own set of rules and interpretations of the standard. Telco Electrical make it easy by completing this task on your behalf. By dealing with most power Authorities on a regular basis we are able to get you the answers in a more timely manner. Telco Electrical can provide an up to date overview of the Power Application process with the aid of our online Task Manager. By using our Task Manager you are able to keep track of the process and it also makes available all the documents used.
Preliminary Design
When a carrier undertakes an initial investigation for a prime candidate site, they will look at how they will connect to a power source. This is known as the Preliminary Design stage. Telco Electrical can conduct a desktop Preliminary Design to establish a point of supply and a practical method for its distribution. By having an electrical engineer assessing the project at this stage can avoid expensive mistakes being made later in the design process from assumptions being made.
Greenfield Electrical Detail Designs
Telco Electrical are available to provide electrical designs, drawings and specifications for any new telecommunications mobile site. This includes detailing the point of supply, method of reticulation and metering arrangement whether it be a stand alone site or collocated arrangement. We are able to combine our other services such as Site Electrical Surveys and Power Applications to offer a complete turnkey solution. Telco Electrical will complete electrical detailed designs, providing practical solutions and delivering in a professional and timely manner.
Earthing Assessments
Some areas of earthing are unique to telecommunication installations with each carrier using their own set of rules and terminology. Earthing around buildings and structures is essential to avoid personal injury or equipment damage. Telco Electrical can provide one off earthing designs for any site to comply with the latest standards.
Site Upgrades and Technology Roll-outs
Carriers are always upgrading equipment and technology. Telco Electrical are able to provide the electrical design input for any Upgrade Project. We are able to assess how the upgrade work will effect the existing DC Power Supply System and the mobile sites electrical infrastructure.
